Introduction
SyncMate is built on a privacy-first philosophy. We believe your personal health data belongs to you alone — not to us, not to advertisers, and not to any third party.
This policy describes how SyncMate handles (or rather, does not handle) your data. The short version: SyncMate collects absolutely no personal data. Everything stays on your device, under your control, always.
We are not a data company. SyncMate has no servers that receive your data, no accounts that store your information, and no business model that depends on collecting or selling personal information. This policy exists to explain that clearly and completely.
Data Collection
SyncMate does not collect any personal data. To be completely explicit, here is what we do not collect:
Personal Identifiers
- No name — we never ask for or receive your name.
- No email address — no account creation, no sign-up.
- No phone number — never requested.
- No date of birth — not collected or stored by us.
- No device identifiers — no IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers), no IDFV, no serial number.
- No IP address — the app makes no outbound network connections.
Health & Location Data
- No health data transmitted — cycle dates, period logs, and notes are stored only on your device. They are never sent to any server.
- No Apple Health / HealthKit integration — SyncMate does not read from or write to Apple Health.
- No location data — SyncMate never requests location permissions and has no access to your GPS or location history.
- No biometric data — no Face ID, Touch ID, or biometric identifiers are collected.
Usage & Technical Data
- No analytics — we do not track which features you use, how long you use the app, or any behavioral data.
- No crash reports — we receive no automatic crash logs or error reports.
- No advertising identifiers — no IDFA or any advertising-related identifier is accessed.
- No usage statistics — we have no visibility into how the app is used.
- No device information — iOS version, device model, and hardware identifiers are not collected.
Because we collect nothing, there is no data to sell, share, breach, or subpoena.
Local Storage Details
All data you enter into SyncMate is stored exclusively on your device. Here is exactly how that works:
How Data Is Stored
SyncMate uses iOS UserDefaults, the standard Apple-provided on-device key-value storage system. This is a local-only storage mechanism built into iOS. Data written to UserDefaults stays in the app's sandboxed container on your device.
- Period log dates — the dates you log as period start dates.
- Cycle predictions — computed predictions based on your logged history (calculated on-device).
- Daily feedback and notes — any notes or symptom feedback you enter.
- App settings and preferences — notification preferences, cycle length adjustments.
What "Local Only" Means
- Your data is never transmitted to any server, cloud service, or external system — not even to us.
- SyncMate has no network connections for data sync. The app operates entirely offline after installation.
- We have no access to your device, your data, or any account associated with your device.
- If you delete the app, iOS removes all app data from your device, including everything stored in UserDefaults. Nothing remains.
iCloud Backup
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your iPhone or iPad, iOS may include SyncMate's UserDefaults data as part of your device backup. This is standard iOS behavior that applies to most apps.
- This backup is managed entirely by you through iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup.
- We do not initiate, control, or have access to your iCloud backup.
- Your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- If you do not want SyncMate data included in iCloud Backup, you can disable iCloud Backup entirely or manage per-app backup settings in iOS Settings.
To be clear: iCloud Backup, if enabled, is a backup of your data, stored in your iCloud account, controlled by you. SyncMate plays no role in this process.
Third-Party Services
SyncMate integrates with no third-party services. The app is built entirely using Apple's own frameworks and contains no external SDK dependencies. Specifically:
No Analytics or Tracking
- No Firebase (Google Analytics, Crashlytics, or any Firebase product).
- No Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Segment — no product analytics frameworks.
- No Adjust, AppsFlyer, or Branch — no mobile attribution or deep-link SDKs.
- No Sentry, Bugsnag, or Crashlytics — no crash reporting or remote error logging.
No Advertising
- No ad networks — SyncMate displays no advertisements.
- No AdMob, Meta Audience Network, or any ad SDK.
- No advertising identifier (IDFA) access — never requested or read.
No Social or Account Services
- No Sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook — no social login of any kind.
- No social sharing SDKs — no Facebook SDK, Twitter/X SDK, or similar.
- No customer support SDKs — no Intercom, Zendesk, or in-app chat services.
Apple's App Store Infrastructure
The only external party involved in SyncMate is Apple, through the App Store and in-app purchase system. When you download the app or make a purchase, Apple's standard App Store terms and privacy practices apply. These are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, which is separate from this policy.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
App Audience & Age Rating
SyncMate is a menstrual cycle tracking app. It is rated 4+ in the App Store (general audience) and contains no age-restricted content. While the app's primary subject matter (menstrual health) is relevant mainly to adolescents and adults, the app itself is general audience and suitable for users of all ages, including those 13 and older.
COPPA Compliance
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) imposes requirements on operators of apps and websites that collect personal information from children under 13. SyncMate complies with COPPA through its zero-data-collection architecture:
- SyncMate does not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age. This includes children under 13.
- Because no data is collected or transmitted, there is no personal information to disclose, obtain verifiable parental consent for, or delete.
- SyncMate has no mechanism to identify the age of its users because it does not collect any identifying information at all.
In practice, COPPA compliance is achieved by design: the absence of data collection means the obligations that COPPA imposes on data collectors simply do not apply.
Parent and Guardian Notice
If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about your child's use of SyncMate, please contact us. While we have no access to any user's data, we are happy to answer questions about how the app works and what data it does (and does not) store locally on a device.
GDPR & CCPA Compliance
SyncMate is designed with privacy by design as a core architectural principle — not as an afterthought. The following explains how your rights under major privacy regulations are satisfied.
Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/EEA Residents)
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you specific rights over your personal data. Here is how each applies to SyncMate:
- Right of Access (Art. 15): You have the right to know what personal data we hold about you. We hold none. All data you enter is stored only on your own device, in your own app container. You can view all of it directly in the app at any time.
- Right to Rectification (Art. 16): You have the right to correct inaccurate personal data. Since your data lives on your device, you can edit or delete any entry directly within SyncMate.
- Right to Erasure / Right to be Forgotten (Art. 17): You have the right to have your personal data deleted. To delete all SyncMate data, simply delete the app from your device. iOS will remove all associated data immediately.
- Right to Data Portability (Art. 20): You have the right to receive your data in a portable format. Your data never leaves your device, so there is no data held by us to export. All cycle data is accessible within the app.
- Right to Object and Right to Restrict Processing (Arts. 18 & 21): There is no processing of your data by us to object to or restrict.
- No Automated Decision-Making (Art. 22): SyncMate's cycle predictions are computed entirely on your device using your own data. No profiling or automated decision-making is performed by us or any external system.
Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants California residents specific rights. Here is how each applies:
- Right to Know: You have the right to know what personal information is collected. SyncMate collects none. All data you enter is stored locally on your device only.
- Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected. Because we have collected none, there is nothing for us to delete. You can delete all local app data by deleting SyncMate from your device.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale: You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information because we do not collect it.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising CCPA rights. This right is inherently satisfied since we have no data about you.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Because SyncMate does not transmit or process personal data outside of your device, there is no data processing by us that requires a legal basis under GDPR. The app performs all computations locally on your device, acting as a tool under your direct control.
No Data Transfers
SyncMate does not transfer your data to any country or international organization. Your data does not leave your device, so cross-border data transfer requirements under GDPR Chapter V do not apply.
EU and California residents retain all rights afforded by GDPR and CCPA respectively. In practice, these rights are satisfied automatically because no personal data is ever collected or processed by SyncMate outside of your device.
Contact Information
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or SyncMate's data practices, please contact us:

What to Include in Your Inquiry

Policy Updates
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the app, applicable laws, or our practices. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will not make changes that contradict the core principle of zero data collection without prominent notice. Continued use of the app following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Significant changes to this policy will be noted in the App Store release notes for the corresponding app version.
